TEC specializes in the design, construction, simulation, and validation of decarbonization processes based on hydrogen, addressing both technological and economic aspects. The company takes a multidisciplinary approach and has extensive experience in evaluating and optimizing industrial combustion technologies.
Through past projects and strategic collaborations, TEC has established itself as a a leading provider of sustainable solutions for energy-intensive industries. In the H2AL project, TEC contributes its technical expertise to ensure the development and validation of innovative hydrogen-based technologies.
Tecnalia leads the Requirements and Specification Analysis to guide the project’s activities. Its contributions include designing, simulating, and validation of hydrogen combustion processes. They will define specifications for new hydrogen burners and simulate their behaviour in aluminium tower furnaces under real operating conditions. Furthermore, they will validate the combustion process in industrial settings, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
Tecnalia collaborates across all project work packages, engaging with partners to integrate knowledge and expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Integrating hydrogen into energy-intensive industries presents a number of challenges, particularly in terms of ensuring efficiency and reducing pollutant emissions.
Tecnalia addresses these challenges in a number of ways. Firstly, it uses advanced simulations to predict and optimise hydrogen burner performance. Secondly, it conducts experimental trials in its hydrogen combustion laboratory, which are used to validate new equipment designs. Thirdly, it creates innovative designs that combine hydrogen combustion with electric heating elements, with the aim of optimising energy consumption.
These solutions guarantee scalable and technically sound processes that meet industrial requirements.
